Kristianstad Tour
Cycle a city-close tour with plenty of nature. Follow the Helge River and Hammarsjön to Ekenabben. A perfect place to take a break before continuing your ride towards the Hammar district and back into the city.
Cycle from Kristianstad’s city westwards to the city park - Tivoliparken. If you wish, you can stop and explore the park a bit. In our guide ‘Discover Kristianstad on Your Own,’ you can learn more about the park’s history and also the theater located in the middle of the park.
Right here, you can take a small detour from the bike tour and cross the bridge over the Helge River for a visit to the Vattenriket Nature Center.
Kristianstad’s Vattenrike visitor center is located adjacent to the city of Kristianstad. Here, you can explore the exhibition on your own or join a guided tour. In the exhibition, you can search for pearls in the creek, observe animals, and enjoy the view from the panoramic window. Don’t miss the thrilling flight with the Opteryx vehicle and simulator! Naturum also has a restaurant and café called Bistro Årum.
Back to Tivoliparken, follow the gravel road along the Helge River southwards. In Kristianstad on Your Own, you’ll find more places you pass along the bike path. These include the old textile factory Yllan, Kristianstad Arena, and the Railway Museum, which used to be Kristianstad Södra railway station.
When you’ve cycled out of the city, follow the bike path along the shore of Hammarsjön. The large screw under the roof on your left is the Archimedes Screw. It was used by the English engineer John Milner to pump water from Nosabyviken and drain large areas that are now developed in Kristianstad.
If you turn right, you’ll reach the natural area Ekenabben to experience birdlife, blooming flowers, and centuries-old oaks growing here.
Back on the bike path at the Archimedes Screw, you have the opportunity for another detour. Instead of turning left towards the Hammar district, continue straight for a bit and then turn right onto Fågelängsvägen. Here you’ll find Frestad gård, a small farm with a café and a small shop. The café offers food made from their own meat and delicious pastries.
Continue your bike tour by following the pedestrian and bike path along Otto Lindenows väg through the Hammarslund district. On the way there, you’ll cycle under E22 and Fundationsvägen.
After cycling over Blekingevägen and following the bike path along the Hammar residential area on your right, you can take another detour. If you turn right and follow the residential area’s border, then cross the meadows, you’ll arrive at Birgers Trädgård restaurant. They have evening openings with a focus on burgers and stone-oven-baked pizzas. Some Sundays, they also offer brunch.
Follow the bike path back to Kristianstad city.
The bike tour is approximately 9 km.
