Production of biogas

Biogas is produced at three different locations in Kristianstad:

• The Landfill
• The Waste water treatment plant
• The Biogas plant in Karpalund

The landfill gas (about 16 000 MWh in 2009) is used for incineration in the district heating plant, together with a part of the biogas from the plant in Karpalund. The rest of the gas from Karpalund is used as vehicle fuel (.

The biogas from the waste water treatment plant is used partly for internal heat production (3 700 MWh/year in 2009) and partly as vehicle fuel (3 800 MVh/year in 2009).

For the gas to be used as vehicle fuel it has to be upgraded.
