Biogas - the most environmentally-friendly vehicle fuel

Biogas is a renweable fuel that does not contribute to an enhanced greenhouse effect. The emission of pollutants is low and the biogas process is part of a natural ecocycle.

Biogas is the the fuel with the smallest impact on the environment today. The most important aspect is that there is no CO2 contribution to the atmosphere from biogas. Also, the emissions of NOx, SOx, and other pollutants are much lower than those from petrol or diesel.

Biogas is produced locally in Kristianstad, so there are no unnecessary transports involved. Since it is produced out of waste it is also a part of the municipality's waste management. The biogas process turns waste into energy. What is left after the biogas process is a nutrient rich substance that can be used as fertilizer, which means that there is a cycling of nutrients.
